Happy Halloween

I LOVE Halloween! I usually start thinking of costume ideas around July & start planning the fine details before anyone else even thinks about anything past swim suites and tan lines. This year I had an epic costume idea but opted out for a cheaper idea in an effort to save a little green. You really can't beat a costume that requires less than $5 to make and a little creativity.

So Halloween night rolled around & Lydia & myself headed downtown to our (really my) favorite restaurant for a dinner out in our awesome costumes. I went as a pinata, she as a birthday girl, together we were a birthday party!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!

Soul Mates

Two of my favorite quotes in life come from Sex & the City. While that may not seem very profound, I am in love w/ that show and every time I hear them, they make me well up a little on the inside. I'm sure at some point the first one will be revealed, but for now, this one is the only one that matters.

Perspective @ the Top of Jumbo

Someone once, years ago (it really seems like another life at this point), once told me that sometimes you just need to look at life from anoter perspective.

Feeling a little claustrophobic in my present, travel-less state, I took off for the top of a peak I had yet to summit in the Missoula Valley, Mount Jumbo.

Traveling has been on my mind a lot lately, but looking down on the city I love so much reminded me that staying put needs to be in my current life plans. Change is coming. I can feel it in my very bones. I'm just not entirely sure how it's going to manifest itself yet. That's the beauty of life - it's always keeping you on your toes.

Charity Miles - Bike for Parkinsons

A few weeks ago I asked you all to help out any way you could for the Charity Miles Miles for a Cure for Parkinson's Research. Halfway through the month, Medtronic doubled their pledge of $50,000 to $100,000 to be matched by a ratio of 1 dollar for every mile logged.
One weekend was set aside that for ever mile logged $3 would be donated. That particular weekend my friend Lydia wanted to go on a training ride for her triathalon training so Debbie, Lydia & myself set out on a 35 mile bike ride to a nearby town & back, each logging our miles for Team Fox & helping to raise over $100 each.
The day was a bit chilly, but the oncoming winter storm managed to stay away long enough for us to get our ride in.

When it was all said and done over 147,000 miles were logged total for the month of October! Thanks to everyone out there who helped raise the $100,000 for Parkinson's research. Just in time for Daddio's deep brain stimulator implants on Oct 30th.

Welcome to the Roaring Twenties

Look down at the bottom left corner of my blog & you'll see a little counter that's been plugging away since April 2006. Today something special happened to that counter. It surpassed 20, 000 views.

*mind blown*

Tonight I think I'll toast to that...
I'm on the pursuit of happiness...

Make the Most of It

Sunlight is becoming a precious commodity & my hours at work are quickly becoming longer. Proof that it's that time of year to make the most out of the cold, but mostly snowless mountains that surround me.

So after finishing my Saturday shift (I've got another string of 6 day work weeks starting) I came home and packed my day pack, despite my bed beckoning me to come back to it. Bosco & I loaded up the Baja & met up w/ my friend Chalah, then headed west. Rain was in the forecast for Missoula, so if we had any hope of wanting to stay semi-dry, we needed to gain a little elevation & pray for snow.

I'm in love w/ Squaw Peak & have summited it every year since first discovering the trail system that leads to it. Not wanting to miss a year we set our signs on this peak & took off through the quiet, multi-colored forest.
Just as we reached the peak the snow was starting to fall (and the wind was picking up steadily as well), so we hung out for a bit, then ventured back down the rocks when our numbing limbs could take no more.
We made it home just in time to enjoy the last few minutes of daylight. Soon I was enjoying a hot showed & headed out for drinks at one of my new favorite places in town - Plonk - for some needed girl time w/ my friend Lydia.
Sunday morning, after not being able to sleep in on my only day off I got up & met up w/ my friend Ash & headed towards Weir hot springs. She's a native Australian, but taking off to travel the States for a few months & figure out whether she plans on staying State-side of returning home. So we spent several hours submerged in the warm pools of water with the most beautiful views. As always, I ran into friends there as well.

Finally, after sufficiently pruning our skin, we set off for Missoula, said our goodbyes, & parted ways. Safe travels lady! Then I treated myself (& my kindle) on a date night w/ a slice of pizza & bottle of (root)beer.
Perfect fall weekend. <3 p="">

Missoula Sunrise

Bosco & I woke early this morning to watch the sun rise over Missoula. We hike a bit up Blue Mountain to find the perfect view.
I think we found it.

Sunday Ride

Fall is most certainly in the air and the snow is already settling onto the mountain tops for the winter. So Becky & I saddled up the horses and took them around the corral for a bit to enjoy the beautiful weather we were having.

I was even able to log my miles on Charity Miles & added another 2 miles to the log! Woot!

Charity Miles

Take part in our inaugural Miles for a Cure! Walk, run, or bike to help us meet our 50,000 mile goal and raise $50,000 for critical Parkinson’s research.

For every mile you track up to November 3 using the Charity Miles smartphone app, partner sponsor Medtronic DBS Therapy will donate $1 for critical Parkinson's research.

No matter how far you go or how you get there, you're getting us all closer to a cure:http://bit.ly/MilesCure
