The world is there for me to change, someday, somehow, I'm going to leave my mark on it.

Twenty Three

Another year has come and gone and today I turned another year older. Thanks to all my friends and family that sent me well wishes, cards, & especially to those who called to sing to me! I had another great birthday thanks to friends (& family even tho you're all way to far away!). I went to work & had a normal day there, then Chris & I went climbing at the wall on campus. Then my favorite local band was playing, Wartime Blues, at a bar in town so I went out with friends. But before that, while I was getting ready, Christopher & my roommates surprised me with a tasty ice cream cake. All 23 candles were present! Thanks guys!
All in all, another great day. :-)

Delta Pet Partners Animal Assisted Activities
Skyler & I just passed our testing to become registered Pet Partners. We ACED the test! This means that not only can go into registered hospitals, schools, nursing homes, youth homes, halfway houses, etc. but we are allowed to visit the most complex environments and situations within those places. We've been wanting to do this for a long time & taking the test has never quite worked out for our schedule until today. Thanks for all the well wishes!
I've been wanting to do this for most of my life, but just never took any real action towards making it a reality. Then, when my Grandpap Walter was in hospice care, he & my family were frequently visited by The Golden Girls, a trio of Golden Retrievers. I am still not sure whether or not my pap was even aware that they were there, but my family always had a smile on their face during their visits, even in that trying time. After my pap passed away I promised that I would kick it into gear to do this, so that in some small way I could do my part to make others happy. Sitting in the hallways outside the test room, the dog before us ended his test & walked out into the hallway. His name was Walter. I think someone was watching over Skyler & I during our testing. O:-)

PetFest '09
Despite the downpour that continued all day, PetFest was a huge success this year. Go Fetch! had a booth & myself & the groomers, Kristin & Sara, worked tirelessly all week long preparing 200 goodie bags full of stuff to promote grooming and training. I unfortunately forgot to take my camera in all the bustle, but stole this one from PetFest's facebook.

Missoula Osprey
Meteor Shower
Every year, around the same time in August, the night sky is lit up with thousands of shooting stars. When I was little my parents used to take my siblings & I camping during this week, even if it only meant walking a few hundred yards up the hill or down in the field by the river. I've always loved those times & have missed them dearly. This year I decided not to let another meteor shower pass me by. Life is too short, and even though I had to be up early the next morning for work, I drug 2 of my roomies into the Bitteroot Wilderness for a bit of star gazing. I saw 22 shooting stars in a little over an hour.
Pictures were taken by Cameron, light painting the night.

Elsina, Dina, & the Lunker
The hike starts at Lake Elsina & winds through the mountains to Lake Dina, another hidden gem.
